About the project
LOCKLINEMy film is about the irreconcilable differences between people which we perhaps can overcome

KIKI IS WORKING ON HER PREPERATIONS FOR THE WORLD CUP FOR THE PRETTIEST GUINEA PIG. WHEN THERE IS A POWER FAILURE, AND HER HAIRDRYERS STOP WORKING, SHE HAS TO LET GO OF HER TIGHT SCHEDULE. IS SHE STILL ABLE TO WIN OR DOES LOVE QONQUER ALL?

With a group of young filmmakers we will graduate this year from the Utrecht School of the Arts. This film should also be better than anything we have previously made and therefore we need your support! Everyone has saved a fly out of a glass of water and allowed it to dry until it could fly away. Everyone sometimes eats a herring or steak. Everyone has served his pet the same delicious meal. There are people who use a hairdryer for their guinea pig, but who looks ever for the difference?

Kiki works in a grooming salon where the pets that come along are put on a pedestal. Their owners find them so important that they should go to the hairdresser too. Across the street Sven works in a fishmonger. He daily pulls guts out of lifeless fish and sells them to people who eat them. This contradiction can be found everywhere in our daily environment. That's why I find this an interesting contrast.

Everyone, cast and crew, participate voluntarily to make this film amazing. Nevertheless film takes a lot of money to make. You should think of dressing the groomer and the fishmongers, the main locations of the movie, catering, travel expenses, but also a nice camera and a bus to transport everything. The HKU, our school, has no budget to fund the film and therefore we will have to find our own financing. We'll do this through Cinecrowd.

It is a slightly absurd, tragicomic film. It is not a superficial drama, but it is not a psychological, social statement either. It's about eccentric and strange characters.

The arena is very important to me. It must be a self-contained world. There will be no elements to associate the arena with a bustling capital. The world needs to feel intimate and a little absurd. The locations are dressed over the top.

Colors also play a major role. The groomer is suffused with pink and gold colors. The women who work there are super sweet. Around the fishmongor the color blue is dominating.

It's a happy society. It feels like the year 2000, but that should not be imitated. It reminds me of a sweeter, more optimistic time.

We are ready to go! With your support we can go make the movie! We hope you are as excited as we are and that we can bring 'WK Cavia' to the big screen together!
