A short film, set in the 19th century. The time when the Netherlands was introduced to the first steam engines and factories. The steam train became the most important means of transport in our country. This important historical page of Dutch history is the backdrop for our short film.
The story is about a 10-year-old boy named Otto. After Otto's father left for the big city to make money, Otto and his mother are left behind. When his father does not return, Otto decided to look for him. Waiting at the station, he finds a pocket watch. Without knowing that the watch is a dark object, he brings a ghost train to life. When the clumsy conductor claims to know where his father is, the boy decides to go with the train and then ……... the story really begins.
We are Kilian Brons and Sam van der Kwast, we are students at the film department of the Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht. This year we make a short film together. Making films is our greatest hobby, and we would like to become professional filmmakers in the future. To achieve this goal, we want to gain more experience and knowledge by making this short film.
As students, we do not have enough money to finance this low-budget short film. We desperately need the money to be able to provide our actors with travel expenses, equipment, props, cast and crew with food and drink and costumes. Thanks to the ‘Stoom Stichting Nederland’ in Rotterdam we have a beautiful location and trains to make this short movie.
