Silhouettes against the light will be made with a wonderful group of motivated professionals of different ages.
The unusual travels of a man in this special and unique part of Holland is, as was mentioned before, the main subject of this film. It’s purpose is to move the viewer along with the man through this photographic and aesthetic experience of his world.
The initiator of this project is Eef de Graaf Gerami.
She has made several short films, which have been shown in Italy, Spain, Brazil, France, Russia and Australia. Typically her films have first been shown at the International film festival of Rotterdam which is important starting place for establishing contacts.
The main subject of Eef’s films are the human being in his/her surroundings. Intuition and improvisation play an important role in her films.
Her interest in the beauty of the landscape and the life in and around it inspires her ideas. Eef translates them in a sort of surrealistic world. They originate from the stories of people around her and Eef’s own interpretation of her surroundings.
Eef searches for aesthetic images, which translated in the film medium combine and create an original and new type of world which we as viewer cannot easily grasp or formulate in words.
Eef was educated as a painter at the art academy of Minerva in Groningen, Holland where she first trained as painter and later she became a cinematographer.
The producer of this project is Ruud Monster, who has a long list of filmproductions to his name.
LavaFilm production and distribution (which works for independent, artistic productions and documentaries) works in this case together with foundation “View in Zeeland”: a foundation for professional art and culture in Zeeland.
The participating choreographer for this project is the versatile Sjoerd Schwibettus. The writers Dirk Everse and script coach Willem Rodenhuis have been involved in this project.
For the shoot of this promotion clip, we worked together with the cameraman Rieks Soepenberg to look for a great team of motivated and enthusiastic film making professionals. Together we made a pilot which you can see on video and reflects the style and atmosphere of the film.
The main actor for this film will be the dancer Corneliu Ganea and who works together with the actrice Maja Jawor. Both living in Holland they have a long list of international theatre experiences.
The artists Sjoerd Schwibettus and Rob Maaskant play a role in the film.
We have come quite a ways with the financing and are now searching for the remaining amount. We hope to start filming in september 2014 and finish editing by the end of this year.
