Nick Ceylan | Director
Niek was born in Nijmegen in 1989. Raised by his Dutch mother, he lived with his younger sister in a multicultural neighbourhood. His Turkish father disappeared not long after the divorce when he was 5. After dropping out of school at 15, he went to work and then signed up to train as an audiovisual specialist at 23. After graduating with two documentaries, he was sure he wanted to specialize in this field. He sees documentary film making as a way to show worlds that the viewer may not yet know.
Eleonora Minervino | Producer
Eleonora Minervino (Milan, 1997) has always been interested in documentaries. She discovers her passion already in an early age, and during the production training at the Netherlands Film Academy she developed her passion in documentary production.
During her second year, Eleonora took part in an internship at the documentary production company Een van de Jongens where her passion and love for making personal and intimate documentaries has grown enormously. Since summer 2021 Eleonora has been working hard, together with her co-producer Hannah Borchard, to establish her own documentary production company called Cigni Film. After graduation Eleonora wants to move to Berlin to further immerse herself in documentaries and expand her knowledge on the production behind them.
Hannah Borchard | Producer
Born in modest Göttingen, Hannah (Germany, 1992) only came into contact with film at a later age. In Cologne she started working on film sets for national and international productions. Yet, set life was not enough for Hannah and her curiosity led her to an education at the German Film Fund (FFA) in Berlin. In order to deepen her knowledge further, Hannah started studying Film Production at the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam in 2018, where she met Eleonora Minervino, among others. Together they are setting up their own documentary production company called Cigni Film. In addition to her studies, Hannah works at the documentary production company Tangerine Tree as an assistant producer.
Maaike Hasselaar | Dramaturge
Maaike Hasselaar was born in Haarlem in 1999. She has been very interested in art from an early age, especially in drawing and painting. Since she started studying at the Nederlandse Filmacademie, Maaike has mainly written social-related black comedies. She likes to experiment with alternative forms of filmmaking. While writing her feature film, she is researching the blurring boundaries between fiction and documentary.
Sean Louw | Cinematographer
From the moment he was born, Sean was constantly followed around home by his parents with a camera. Once he got hold of the camera himself, he never let go of it… By now Sean has a number of short films as DoP on his name that were screened at the Netherlands Film Festival, among others. Since 2019 he has been studying Cinematography at the Film Academy. Sean has a strong preference for striking images that constitute a powerful visual translation from the core.
Marre Bonke | Editor
During a film course, Marre Bonke became acquainted with film editing. Her passion for editing grew into an internship at a post-production house in Amsterdam. After her internship, she worked as an assistant editor for various film and television productions such as Vals, Soof the series, and The Ludwigs. Marre wanted to develop herself further as a film editor and therefore applied to the Nederlandse Filmacademie in 2018, specializing in editing. She is currently doing an internship with two freelance editors in which she works as an assistant editor on, among other things, a new feature film and a short series for Videoland.
Edwin Hidalgo | Composer
Edwin is a music composer and -producer from Ecuador. He started with music when he was 12, learning the guitar by himself. After finishing highschool Edwin went to the conservatory where he learned from excellent guitar teachers! Edwin’s focus went to learning classical and jazz guitar interpretation mainly. After that he got a scholarship at Berklee college of music in Boston and did a bachelor in film scoring and jazz performance there. Presently he is working on his master degree in film scoring at the Amsterdam Conservatory. In his second year of the master's program he’s super happy to be part of Niek's team and looks forward to making the documentary. Working with Niek is so far an amazing experience for Edwin. They aim to compose music that in conjunction with the image penetrates deeply into people's feelings.
Kim Idsinga | Post-production supervisor
After working for five years as an all-round filmmaker in the music industry, Kim started studying at the Netherlands Film Academy in 2017 to specialize in production. During her education, her interest in post-production grew strongly. In 2020 she did an internship at the Amsterdam post-production company Filmmore as a digital intermediate producer. In 2021 she did an extra internship with the post-production supervisor Neeltje van der Heijden, where which Kim was, among other things, post-production coordinator for the Dutch Netflix series Dirty Lines. Since 2020, Kim has been working as a freelancer for APostLab, which organizes international post-production workshops.
Muhammed Berber | Production Designer
Muhammed Berber was born and raised in Tilburg. His passion for storytelling and visual education brought him to the production design department of the Netherlands Film Academy. Muhammed puts a lot of love and feeling into his designs and attaches great importance to the layering that a set can provide to film. Recently Muhammed completed his internship as an art all-rounder at Topkapi production ‘Piece of my Heart’ under the wings of art directors Mirjam Geertje Smit and Minka Mooren. He is looking forward with great enthusiasm to further develop himself within the art department, after finishing film school.
Felicia Koolhoven | Set sound
Felicia developed a great passion for film and sound at a young age. For that reason, she was admitted to the Netherlands Film Academy in 2018, in the direction of sound design. In the past years, she has specialized in sound for documentaries. She is comfortable when she can focus on the content of the film within a small and close-knit team. Previously, Felicia was an intern at Posta in audio post-production.
Jesse Enzler | Sound design
Jesse was born in Amsterdam in 1997 and raised in Haarlem. From a young age, he became interested in music production, where he discovered a new passion: sound design for films. After his admission to the Netherlands Film Academy in 2018, that passion grew into his further development as a sound designer. He is currently doing an internship with Tijn Hazen. Jesse has, in the meantime, contributed to various fiction films and documentaries that have been shown at IDFA and Cinekid, among others.
Zoé Beekes | Sound Mix
Zoé was born in Den Bosch and lived there until finishing highschool. She had a passion for film from an early age, and soon wanted to become a maker. After graduating from high school, she attended the European Film College in Denmark for 9 months. Here she was able to experience the different aspects of film, and she made a documentary that was shown in various places in the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. During the European Film College she found out that Sound Design was her passion, and subsequently applied to the Dutch Film Academy.
Sem Driessen | VFX Supervisor
Sem Driessen was born in Amsterdam in 2001. From the age of seven, Sem got a hold of his father’s camera, who is a professional lighting director for photography abroad. He used it to make stop-motion movies with the stuff around him. Later in life, he organized a film club with classmates to make short films in Baarn, the village where Sem grew up. Around the age of 16 he started using Visual Effects in his films. In 2018 Sem was admitted to study Visual Effects & Immersive Media at the Film Academy. He recently did an internship at Storm Postproduction in Amsterdam.
Storm Rechsteiner | Production assistant
With two parents who work in the film industry, the choice for Storm was quickly made. The 22-year-old film fanatic is now following in the footsteps of his father, who is also a producer. Storm’s last documentary screened at the Netherlands Film Festival and he hopes to surpass that with this project. As a third year student, he is currently in a unique position to participate in this graduation film.
